Trinity project dossier for Merge, the connection between Ditch and Glitch

ENTER MERGE

It didn't take long for Ditch and Glitch to realise they had a problem. They were too much for one song.

GLITCH

“Speak for yourself,” Glitch says.

Ditch looks at her.

DITCH

“I was.”

Singles weren't going to cut it. Both wanted their own sound, their own voice and enough room to develop without being locked into one genre. The goal wasn't to make every Ditch track sound the same or every Glitch track follow a formula. They needed a core DNA. And room to mess with it.

Around that time, we started playing with Suno's MashUp function. Taking tracks we'd already made, throwing them together and seeing what happened when two completely different ideas collided. Most experiments stayed experiments. Then one came back different. There was something in the mutation that didn't quite belong to Ditch. It wasn't Glitch either.

Merge's first project dossier: the ghost in the code

Glitch remembers the moment.

GLITCH

“So naturally, instead of deleting it, we gave it a name.”

Ditch nods.

DITCH

“We'd learned our lesson about deleting things.”

At first, nobody really knew what to do with him. So we gave him a job. The new Trinity EP format gave Ditch and Glitch their own tracks, while the third became a place to experiment with collaborations and this strange new piece of code we'd found between them. Merge got his first proper chance on Gaslight from NARCISSIST. He did well. Annoyingly well. So he stayed around.

What followed wasn't a perfectly planned character development. All three voices were still evolving. Ditch was beginning to push deeper into his own vocal identity, Glitch was finding hers, and Merge was slowly becoming something more than the result of a MashUp.

Through N3W DNA, NOSF3RATU and D3JA-VU, we kept testing. Different voices. Different genres. Different roles. Somewhere along the way, Merge stopped feeling like the guest on track three. After D3JA-VU, we made it official. DITCH TH3 GLITCH was no longer a duo. The Trinity had arrived. Glitch looks over at Merge.

GLITCH

“Not bad for a string of code.”

Ditch nods.

DITCH

“Look at him now.”

Merge raises an eyebrow. Glitch smiles.

GLITCH

“Our stylish daddy.”

Merge smirks.

MERGE

“I preferred string of code.”
